
This college was established in 1967 by the great educationist Dr. Panjabrao alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh and 'Dalit Mitra' Shri Pandharinathji Patil.
In the beginning, there was only a science faculty. The Department of Marathi in this college started functioning with the establishment of the college itself in 1967. Shri Prof. Mane sir was appointed in 1967 to teach Marathi for B.Sc. I class. He worked in this college from 1967 to 1970. In 1971, the Arts faculty was introduced and in the same academic year, Shri Gulam Mustafa Deshmukh sir was appointed. In 1971, Marathi literature was introduced as one of the optional subjects in the Arts faculty. During the academic sessions 1972 to 1974, Shri Prof. Chaudhari taught Marathi. But he left the college in 1974. Since 15th July 1974, Prof. N.L. Borode sir has been working in the Marathi Department.
Commerce faculty was introduced in 1989. The second divisions of B.A. Part I, B.A. Part II, and B.A. Part III was started in 1993, 1994, and 1995, respectively. From 1993, Prof. G.G. Malte was appointed. From 2009, Prof. Dr.Anuradha.R. Mule Madam was appointed in the Marathi Department. M.A. Marathi (P.G. course) was introduced in 2011, and the Ph.D. Research center started functioning with the establishment of the college itself in 2017.
At present, there are three faculties functioning in this college, viz: Science, Arts, and Commerce. B.Sc., B.A., M.A. Marathi (P.G. course), and Ph.D. Research center are available. Marathi is taught as one of the subjects in all faculties.
